Tammy Smith

Food Safety Specialist/Auditor

Tammy joined our organization in 2012 as a subcontractor to head up the tanker wash audit division. Tammy has been handling tanker wash audits for over 6 years now for JPA and is well versed in the requirements necessary for these procedures. She even developed quality systems for several tanker wash facilities.

Prior to this, she was the Food Safety Manager at Tropicana. She held this position for 6 years. In this position, she reviewed and approved the HACCP programs for all Tropicana, Quaker and Pepsi facilities within the U.S. She also developed and conducted HACCP training for employees within the manufacturing plants and the co-pack facilities. In addition to these responsibilities, she managed the Tropicana Bradenton Sanitation Initiatives program.

Tammy was also a Quality Supervisor at Kraft Foods overseeing all the various cheese products that they made. Within this capacity, she assisted in collecting samples and preparing the analytical interpretation of results. It was her responsibility to communicate the findings to all the necessary parties.

As a Microbiology Manager, she was influential in developing all the procedures to be implemented in the Schwan's microbiology labs nationwide. After developing the procedures, she proceeded to train all the Schwan's personnel across the U.S. with the new procedures. These changes constituted in great cost savings and improved efficiencies throughout the entire company.

Tammy is currently a member of the JPA Technical Committee for Tanker Wash Auditing.
