Robert “Bob” Wihl joined D. L. Newslow & Associates in July 2013 as a Senior Associate. Bob graduated from Ohio State University and continues to reside in Ohio. He is a true Buckeyes fan.
Bob has over 30 years of progressive experience managing/implementing Quality Management Systems, Operations, Quality Assurance, Safety and Continuous Improvement Activities within Mars Petcare, Inc. He has also continued his education through specialized courses including: ISO 9001 Accredited Lead Auditor Course, Certified Six Sigma-Green Belt, Advanced HACCP Training as well as multiple MARS “Core Curriculum” courses.
Bob originally started out at Mars Petcare in the operations area. From there he proceeded to be the Prep Coordinator for four years and managed eight employees at this level. Bob continued his journey by holding the position of Quality Assurance Coordinator and then the Canning Technician (Line Supervisor) for six years. After this he became the Single Serve Technician (Line Supervisor) where he supervised 17 employees and was responsible for the safety, efficiency and line cost among other things. This led to his promotion to Sr. Technician, Continuous Improvement Activities. In this capacity, Bob led impact sessions to help identify areas of improvement so that Mars Petcare would run more efficiently. He became the liaison between top management and middle management for areas of improvement. This job also entailed him to write SOP’s, manage the level of non-conforming products and issue purchase requests for materials as needed.
In 2005, Bob became the Quality and Food Safety Specialist where he led a core team in developing, implementing and acquiring the ISO 9001 certification for the largest Mars Petcare site in North America. His leadership also enabled the same team to acquire the quality management process certification and the HACCP based Food Safety Management Certification. He even developed an internal audit program and a document control system while he was there. Finally Bob was also involved in developing and implementing GMP/GHP Pre-requisite programs. Bob remained in this position for eight years until his retirement from Mars Petcare in 2013.
